Launched in 2022, Sony's LinkBuds range welcomes three new references, including the LinkBuds Open wireless headphones that we offer to detail here (see our news Sony LinkBuds Fit, new True Wireless headphones to discover another of the new references).
Sony LinkBuds Open, main specifications££££
These headphones are distinguished at first glance by new lightweight stabilizers, improving wearing comfort, as well as open-design speakers, to stay connected to your environment. They are also equipped with the Auto Switch function (for automatic change) which automatically transfers playback to the LinkBuds Speaker speaker, also a newcomer to the range (the third new reference…).
On the sound side, the headphones feature the V2 processor, also present in the WF-1000XM5 for optimized sound quality. The LinkBuds Fit support DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) to enhance the quality of compressed audio files. On the navigation side, there is the Wide Area Tap function, allowing double or triple contacts on the front of the ear of your choice to control playback, therefore not requiring you to directly touch the headphones.

Also note that Sony is collaborating with the developer Niantic in the field of augmented audio reality. Thus, the game Ingress, in combination with the LinkBuds Open, takes advantage of sound detection and spatialization technologies for sound information that follows your gaze.

Other features include multipoint connectivity, instant play and pause, voice control, head tracking (the position of the sound in space takes into account the orientation of your head: a guitar located on the left in the sound image will end up behind your head if you turn it to the right) for perfect realism and immersion, control by head movements (nodding to receive or reject a call, or to activate Auto Play) and voice control (Hey Google or Alexa). Battery life goes up to 8 hours, and up to 22 hours with the charging case. The IPX4 rating ensures splash resistance. Finally, note that no plastic is used in the packaging, and that the headphones incorporate recycled plastic materials.
Available in purple, a shade designed by artist Olivia Rodrigo, black or white, the True Wirelee Sony LinkBuds Fit headphones match accessories sold separately (including stabilizers and case covers) also available in different colors to create a unique style.
