Sonos app, 90% back to normal…

After receiving a barrage of criticism following the launch of its new application and the disappearance of many features, Sonos announces that it has restored approximately 90% of them as of October 15. And it's not over!

Launched on May 7, the new application quickly raised a tsunami of criticism (see our news New Sonos application for optimized ergonomics?) from owners of a Sonos product. Devoid of many features appreciated by the latter, the experience offered was disrupted to the great displeasure of users.

Failed application, new products delayed££££

The backlash was such that Sonos decided to delay the release of its new products (see our news Sonos Arc Ultra and Sonos Sub 4, new subwoofers and soundbar), the time for the application to be corrected and completed for satisfactory ergonomics again. On this point, Sonos has not been idle with regular updates of it, on average every two weeks for a result considered convincing, the brand having officially announced the new Arc Ultra sound bar and the new Sub 4.

The word to Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos££££

The CEO of Sonos, Patrick Spence, confirmed it by speaking the day before yesterday by declaring: "We have worked tirelessly to resolve the most critical problems of the application and reintroduce the most requested features. We have now reached a level of quality that gives us the confidence to launch our exciting new products. He added: As stated in our commitments, we will continue to regularly improve the software and are determined to make the Sonos experience better than ever".

For its part, Sonos claims that 90% of the missing features are back in the latest update of the app (versions 80.10.06 for Android and 80.09.09 for iOS). In addition, Sonos claims that the new app will surpass (Editor's note: finally!) the previous version after a software update scheduled for later this month. On the program, significant advances announced in terms of system recognition, device configuration and the ability to group Sonos speakers.
