Chungking Express: the film that made Wong Kar-wai famous finally re-released in 4K

Like Happy Together (1997) and Fallen Angel (1995), another film by director Wong Kar-wai, the film Chungking Express (1994), is expected in a 4K Ultra HD re-release on December 11.

Filmed largely with a handheld camera, Chungking Express (1994) is largely set in Chungking Mansions, a building on Nathan Road in Hong Kong. A city within a city, it is home to nearly 4,000 people and also contains many budget hotels, restaurants and shops. Wong Kar-wai grew up there in the 1960s.

Romance in HDR Dolby Vision ££££

The film tells two stories connected only by the chance encounter of two characters, each hero of his own story. A true romantic drama in the form of a fake detective film, the film tells the story of a police officer meeting a mysterious drug dealer in the first section.

Chungking Express then focuses on another police officer who, after breaking up with his flight attendant girlfriend, meets an eccentric snack bar employee. A 4K release labeled HDR Dolby Vision not to be missed on December 11th at The Joker Films.

Please note, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of 2046 by the same director and its new 4K restoration, the publisher is re-releasing the film in theaters from December 18th and preview on October 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the Filmothèque du Quartier Latin with a commented screening.
