Danse Macabre: A Classic of Italian Gothic Cinema Restored in 4K

On November 2nd, All Souls' Day, spirits are said to appear at Providence Castle. Lord Blackwood (Umberto Raho), the owner of the place, is amused by this and hires a young journalist in search of a scoop to put an end to this legend.

Made in 1963, Antonio Margheriti's Danse Macabre (The Virgin of Nuremberg) is part of the great tradition of Italian Gothic films initiated by Mario Bava with The Mask of the Demon in 1960.

Written by Bruno Corbucci and Giovanni Grimaldi, the film wrongly attributed to Sergio Corbucci (Django, The Great Silence) reveals Margheriti's talent for the genre and allows a certain Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust) to be thrown into the horror bath as assistant director.

Announced on December 3rd in restored 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray version by Artus Films, Danse macabre will be offered in Italian and French DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 with French subtitles, in 1.85 aspect ratio. Included, a 96-page booklet Barbara conduite le bal written by Jean-Pierre Bouyxou and Vincent Roussel. Recommended price: 49.99 euros.
