Model [abc]DLP[/abc] [abc]HD Ready[/abc] [abc]2 160p[/abc] (by wobulation) and [abc]3D Ready[/abc], the BenQ W2720i allows you to enjoy all Google applications via the Google TV QS02 dongle (provided in the W2720i box): Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+, myCanal, Netflix… Not forgetting the [abc]ChromeCast (integrated)[/abc] and [abc]AirPlay[/abc] functions to display a suitable wireless source, and more generally the [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ac and [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.0 compatibilities.
BenQ W2720i, 0.47'' DMD chip££££
In short, the BenQ W2720i's Texas Instrument XPR (wobulation) process, made from a 1920 x 1080 pixel section of the 0.47'' (1.19 cm) [abc]DMD[/abc] chip that has 2048 x 1200 pixels, uses the mirrors' hyper-high switching speed (7 microseconds) via special video processing to create 8 million pixels for each displayed image (one real pixel ultimately gives four pixels).
BenQ W2720i, main specifications££££
Concerning the [abc]Ultra HD[/abc]/[abc]4K[/abc] technology, through the new HDR Pro functionality, the BenQ W2720i is compatible with [abc]HDR10[/abc], [abc]HDR10+[/abc] and HDR [abc]HLG[/abc]. In terms of gamut, the BenQ W2720i ensures 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 space. Good news again, BenQ ensures that the factory setting of the W2720i ensures a Deta E of less than 3 to make the most of the projector right out of the box, without the need for calibration. Finally, the glass optics are made up of six groups for a total of ten lenses, MEMC motion compensation is still in place and grayscale calibration is now possible on 11 points. [abc]ISF[/abc] and Filmmaker Mode certification are in place.
For the rest, the W2720i is based on an RGB or 4ED LED light source (compared to a lamp on the W2710i). Understand by that that it has four diodes, one red, one green and two blue (see photo below). The latter is converted to green via a phosphor treatment to boost the brightness by about 10% compared to a [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]RGB[/abc] model.
The lifespan announces 20,000 hours in Normal mode, 30,000 hours in Eco mode. The brightness displays 2,500 lumens (compared to 2,200 lumens on the W2710i) and the native contrast ratio 760:1 (compared to 600:1 on the W2010i). Precision on the coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, it is ensured at 95% (CinematicColor function) via a WCG filter (brightness then of 1,090 lumens). New, the BenQ W2720i includes AI PQ for Ambient Condition video processing. First, the latter calculates in real time and permanently the distance between the screen and the W2720i, the displayed brightness and the surrounding brightness. At the same time, the algorithm identifies in real time the nature of the scenes projected from the source (city, countryside, sunny scenes, dark scenes, etc.). By combining all this information, the AI PQ for Ambient Condition process optimizes image quality in terms of colors and contrast.
We find the Local Contrast Enhancer function to improve image quality through segmentation and analysis of more than 1,000 zones. Each of them benefits from a specific brightness and gamma curve. New on the W2720i, the Global Contrast Enhancer, Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Dynamic Dimming processes are present.
Always on the menu, in addition to a short focal length (120'' image diagonal, 305 cm, for a distance of 2.6 m), we must also mention a 1.3x zoom, automatic vertical and manual horizontal keystone correction (+ or - 30 degrees on both), a vertical [abc]Lens Shift[/abc] of 5% and a manual focus adjustable via a ring to be rotated above the lens. Of course, the BenQ W2720i is also 3D DLP Link compatible. We note an operating noise oscillating between 26 dB and 28 dB, respectively in Eco and Normal mode.
BenQ W2720i, connectivity££££
The connectivity includes three [abc]HDMI[/abc] 2.0b inputs, one of which has the [abc]eARC[/abc] function and another compatible with 4K/120 signals (but 1080p/120 display) or [abc]1080p[/abc]/240, a 3.5 mm mini-Jack output, an [abc]optical[/abc] output, an [abc]RS-232[/abc] socket, a 12V [abc]Trigger[/abc], three [abc]USB[/abc] ports, one of which is powered, and a mini-[abc]USB[/abc] type-B port (service).
BenQ W2720i, Input Lag££££ Last point, on the Input Lag side, the BenQ W2720i displays 17.9 ms with a 2160p@60 Hz signal, 8.7 ms in 1080p@240 Hz and 21 ms in 1080p@120 Hz. Interesting characteristics for video games from a PS5 console, Xbox Series X or a PC equipped with a powerful graphics card (as a reminder, 4K/120 signal compatibility).
