CES 25 > Oled TV Samsung 83S95F: 83" panel QD Oled and Oled MLA?

In line with Samsung's strategy for the 2025 TV market (see our CES 25 news > Samsung TVs aiming for large sizes: 100", 110" and 115" unveiled?), the Korean manufacturer should unveil an 83" (211 cm) Oled diagonal at the next CES show in Las Vegas 2025. Will it be based on QD Oled or White Oled technology? Maybe both, my captain.

We knew since the CES show in Las Vegas 2024 that Samsung Display was developing a new QD Oled TV panel for 2025, without further details.

Given the evolution of consumer demand for ever larger diagonal TVs, and the associated profitability for brands, it didn't take a genius to imagine that this new panel would allow the manufacturer to expand its range towards larger QD Oled sizes rather than smaller ones. Given the expected sales volumes on the one hand and the Oled mother panel cuts on the other, like LG Display panels, the 83" diagonal quickly became the norm. Indeed, a larger slab would have been displayed at a price considered prohibitive by many consumers, far from the volume objectives always put forward by Samsung.

On the other hand, the leaks published on the Reddit forum about the Samsung S95F TV series a few days ago raise questions. Beyond the generic name of the brand's next premium QD Oled TV series, S95F (Samsung therefore overlaps the S95E name), it is the observation of the complete references of the S95F models that is surprising. Indeed, since the marketing of the S90D series, we know that the xAE references are equipped with a White Oled panel while the xAT have a QD Oled panel (see our news (UPDATE) Samsung Oled TV 2024, which references with a QD Oled or White Oled panel?). However, on the capture available on Reddit (see below) from the Samsung database, the QD83S95FAE and QE83S95FAT references coexist. FAE corresponding to a Woled panel, FAT to a QD Oled panel.

From this leak, the same causes leading to the same effects (as a reminder, we specified in our previous news on the Samsung Oled panel lottery: "Samsung Display's production capacity for 55" and 77" panels is probably not sufficient to supply all markets with QD Oled panels, Samsung Electronics has therefore chosen Woled panels for these diagonals according to the market areas. The United States are winners, Europe is loser..."), Europe would be supplied with LG White Oled panels, the USA and South Korea with QD Oled panels. With a parameter still unknown, however, will the Samsung QD83S95FAE reference (Samsung TQ83S95FAE in France) be equipped with a fourth-generation MLA panel with lighting capabilities close to those of the QD Oled panels, also fourth generation? Normally yes, otherwise the difference in performance between a White Oled panel and the QD Oled Gen 4 would be too great to maintain a consistent visual rendering between the models. To be verified however.
