Buttery growth for the tablet market

The global tablet market continues to climb quarter after quarter, with Apple still on top, and indecent growth for Amazon.

Worldwide tablet shipments increased 20.4% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, for a total of 39.4 million units shipped.

Apple leads ahead of Samsung and Amazon££££

This is according to the IDC firm, specifying that Apple still occupies the leading position with 12.6 million iPads shipped this quarter and 31.7% market share, however less than 37.7% in the same period last year. Still second, Samsung shipped 7.1 million Galaxy tablets, or 18.3% more than last year in the same period.

Amazon is back in the Top 5 and dislodges Lenovo from third place with 4.6 million tablets shipped, twice as many (+111.3%) as last year. The majority of Amazon tablets this quarter were sold during the mega-promotional Prime Day.
