While the film's star Henry Cavill has spent the better part of a year training for the role, Chad Stahelski has shared some new details about his Highlander reboot, which appears to span a longer time period than the original.
He says, "It's going to start in the early 1500s in the Highlands and go all the way to present day New York and Hong Kong, and we'll see how that plays out. There's a lot of action in there. With John Wick, I learned a lot about how to twist the narrative a little bit... a different kind of myth."

Stahelski then explains how he convinced Henry Cavill to take on the lead role in the film: "My pitch to Henry Cavill was simple. You have a guy who's been alive for over 500 years and is the last person in the world who wanted to be in that situation. That situation covers a pretty wide range of emotions for the character. And you get to see someone who's been training for over 500 years and has practiced many different types of martial arts."
Enough to make you yearn for this reboot, which is looking pretty good so far. This new Highlander is set to hit theaters in 2026.
