Apple conquering the connected home?

Apple could evolve the HomePod range in order to establish itself more seriously in the Smart Home market.

According to recent estimates by Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is usually well-informed about Apple's plans, the manufacturer should release its new connected screen (evolution of the HomePod speaker) at the end of 2025.

Initially planned for 2024 then pushed back to early 2025, the device is still delayed. Mainly because of the software part. Kuo specifies that this product will be equipped with an A18 processor, a 6.7" screen (like an iPhone 16 Plus) and Apple Intelligence functions. He estimates that it could sell 500,000 units in 2025 alone, then beyond a million in the following years.

This HomePod will be focused on connected home features, witnessing the repositioning of this audio range towards a Smart Home range. A type of strategic change that we had already seen for the Apple Watch, initially sold as an iPhone peripheral, to become a fashion accessory and health assistant. Kuo adds that he had already predicted that Apple could also launch a sort of surveillance camera in 2026, which would associate with this famous HomePod to form the vase of a Smart Home ecosystem.
