The Korean daily The Elec indicates in its columns that the DTC 2024 conference (Display Tech-Ecosystem Conference) organized by TCL/CSOT was the occasion for the screen manufacturing division of the Chinese group to announce the availability of new [abc]LCD[/abc] WHVA TV panels (W for Wide viewing angle and HVA for Huaxing Vertical Alignment, Huaxing referring to the Chinese initials of CSOT) demonstrated several times already at international trade fairs.
WHVA LCD panels, available from TCL and Samsung from 2025££££
Thus, from 2025, certain LCD TVs branded TCL or Samsung will benefit from these new panels with a significantly wider viewing angle in terms of contrast and color saturation, two weaknesses of VA LCD panels if the viewer is off-axis. Similarly, CSOT, which until now produced 100% VA LCD panels, has stated that it will be able to offer its customers IPS LCD panels from March 2025, following the acquisition of LG Display's Guangzhou plant in China.
The floor to CSOT££££
"During DTC 2024, CSOT presented its new 85-inch 4K WHVA LCD panel, reports Korean newspaper The Elec. It features vertical alignment (VA) technology applied for a wider viewing angle of 178 degrees and a refresh rate of 150 hertz. CSOT said the new panel will be used in new TVs launched by TCL and Samsung next year." No details were given, however, on the models and diagonals concerned by this new panel at Samsung or TCL.
