Known for its inevitable digital video game distribution platform, but also for its Steam Deck portable console, the company Valve could also launch itself on the home console market to compete with the big names in the genre, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Steam home console: code name Fremont?££££
This is what is revealed by suspicious mentions unearthed by developers in the SteamOS code (source Reddit via The Verge). A device, code name Fremont, is thus referenced, equipped with a [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]CEC[/abc] port. The device is based on a processor named AMD Lilac (AMD 8540U). The HDMI port is apparently connected to the GPU, showing that the machine plugs directly into the television and not via a dock like a portable console. As for the AMD Lilac processor, benchmarking site Geekbench considers the chip to be twice as powerful as the Steam Deck's CPU, and four times as powerful as its GPU.
