Released in 2021, the Apple AirTag tracker is expected to welcome a new arrival in 2025. Corroborating previous rumors on the subject, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also mentions technical improvements that this new model would benefit from.

The AirTag would thus be equipped with a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the one that debuted on the iPhone 15 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Concretely, this chip offers a communication range three times greater than the current model. For reference, the iPhone 15 and 16 use this component for a function allowing you to locate your friends up to 60 meters away. The new AirTag will therefore also be able to be located from this far away, where the range of the current model is between 10 and 30 meters. In addition, the speaker of this model will be more difficult to remove, in order to limit criminal abuse.
