Model [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc], the LG CineBeam S is based on a triple laser light source [abc]RGB[/abc], which explains its announced performances, in particular for the coverage of the gamut, 154% of the DCI-P3. The integration of a laser light source also implies improved ergonomics, no need to replace the lamps regularly for example.
LG CineBeam S, a singular design££££
Another remarkable aspect of the LG CineBeam S, its design very different from that of classic video projectors, presenting itself in a rectangular shape, with a size close to that of a satellite speaker (110 x 160 x 160 mm) for a weight contained at 2.45 kg on the scale.
LG PU615U, 500 lumens peak and Dolby Atmos££££
The creator of the LG CineBeam S indicates that its brightness performance reaches 500 lumens peak. Thus, the LG PU615U is capable of projecting images from 40'' (102 cm) to 100'' (254 cm) for a displayed contrast ratio of 450,000:1. And, of course, its projection ratio of 0.25 requires a distance of only a few dozen centimeters. The specifications of the LG CineBeam S open the doors of the living room, in the absence of those of the Home Cinema room, to enjoy a sports broadcast, a gaming session and even occasionally a film or a series. Moreover, in its presentation of the LG PU615U, the Korean manufacturer mentions its cinematic qualities with deep blacks and rich colors. Finally, the [abc]HDR HLG[/abc] and [abc]HDR10[/abc] compatibilities are there and the onboard stereo sound system is compatible with [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc].
LG CineBeam S, ergonomics and connectivity££££
Like more and more video projectors, the LG CineBeam S has automatic focusing and Keystone correction (trapezoidal) that avoid focusing and geometry errors. A good point for a portable video projector that may have to move from its projection location. Similarly, it adapts the projection to the color of the wall and is prepared for almost all eventualities with its Screen Scaling/Shifting features.
The CineBeam S's connectivity is simple but the essentials are there, with an [abc]HDMI[/abc] input with the [abc]eARC[/abc] function (to retrieve the sound from the video projector and send it to a sound bar or a Home Cinema system) and a [abc]USB[/abc] Type-C port, not to mention wireless support for Android and iOS systems.
LG PU615U, WebOS 6.0££££
The LG PU615U is equipped with the WebOS interface allowing full access to the main UHD 4K streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube… Finally, a gallery of ambient images is present if you want them.
