The LG G5 TV series (55", 65", 77" and 83", see photo below) and LG M5 (65", 77", 83" and 97", identical specimens in terms of technical characteristics to the LG G5 but equipped with a wireless box -Zero Connect Box- ensuring the transfer of audio-video signals to the TV, see photo above) therefore say goodbye to Meta technology (with MLA process for Micro Lens Array or microlenses) and hello to new Oled panels equipped with Brightness Booster Ultimate technology (for a suspected peak brightness of 4,000 nits while waiting for a communication from LG Display, see our news (UPDATE) CES 25 > LG G5 Oled TV: 4,000 nits target). At the same time, they say hello to the new Tandem Oled panels equipped with Brightness Booster Ultimate technology for a peak brightness of 4,000 nits.
Tandem Oled RGB panel, four layers of Oled emitting materials££££
Behind this name is a new Oled panel structure, made up of four layers of organic emitting materials including two layers of blue materials, one of them Pholed type therefore phosphorescent, the other fluorescent. The combination of these two blue emitters, mixed with the other organic emitting materials refines the wavelength of light and improves the purity of the colors to offer increased performance in terms of brightness but also color volume. LG Display has continued to perfect this last point, an intrinsic weakness of White Oled technology. We can't wait to judge the brand's words on the spot.
Another advantage highlighted by the Tandem Oled RGB technology is a reduced risk of marking and burning of pixels (Burn-In). Again, this is a point on which LG Display has been working hard since the beginning of Oled technology. And while significant progress has been made in recent years, the problem persists during specific uses (long video game sessions or broadcasting a news channel with a banner at the bottom of the screen, for example). The Tandem Oled process would be the most significant advance on the subject since the launch of Oled.
Ultimately, the peak light of LG G5 and LG M5 TVs is three times greater than that of LG B5 TVs (Editor's note: for an APL of 10%). Another figure, the LG G5 and LG M5 diffusers offer for a 100% APL (i.e. a completely white screen) a brightness of +40% compared to the LG G4 specimens vintage 2024: we can therefore hope for a measurement close to 300 nits. And all this is put to music by the new Alpha 11 Gen 2 central processor.
Namely, the LG G5 series welcomes in 2025 the diagonal 48 "(122 cm) but the latter does not benefit from the Brightness Booster Ultimate function. Similarly, the LG OLED97G5 Evo reference does not offer the performance of the LG G5 55", 65", 77" and 83" in terms of brightness.
TV Oled LG G5 / M5 Evo, Intertek certifications££££
Another evolution of the LG G5 / LG M5 Evo televisions, the Intertek Perfect Black Technology and Perfect Color Technology certifications, for an environment up to 500 lux. The first guarantees a black level of less than 0.24 nit up to an ambient brightness of 500 lux, the second constant colors up to 500 lux also.
Clarification on LG G5 televisions, if the latter are compatible 165 Hz (see our CES 25 news > LG G5 Oled TV, PC gaming lens with Vesa 165 Hz certification), FreeSync Premium/G-Sync certified, the [abc]VRR[/abc] will not be available in [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc]/165 hertz.
LG G5/M5 Evo Oled TV, what's new again?££££ Among the other new features, we should mention a new Filmmaker mode managed according to ambient light conditions. According to LG, the latter precisely analyzes the light environment in order to automatically adjust the image settings to respect the artistic wishes of the filmmaker. Similarly, the LG G5 Evo/M5 Evo feature Clear100 Vesa certification, ensuring optimum fluidity even when displaying hyper-fast or even syncopated scenes on the screen. In terms of sound, the AI Sound Pro feature now promises a virtual 11.1.2 environment. Hold on tight, the 2025 vintage AI Sound Wizard configuration allows for around 40 million sound profile variations and 1.6 billion image setting combinations. LG G5 Evo/M5 Evo, Microsoft Copilot inside and LG AI TV Available only in South Korea and the United States at launch, Microsoft's Copilot artificial intelligence LLM software is part of it. No date has been provided at the time of writing for availability in other countries. In 2025, the Korean manufacturer is announcing the LG AI TV feature accessible on the remote control via a dedicated button with a specific logo that echoes the LG AI Home logo presented by the brand at the IFA show in Berlin in September. In addition to numerous interactions with image processing, LG AI TV naturally intervenes in the use of the TV. Thus, the Voice ID function recognizes the user and automatically switches to their profile with its recommendations and audio-video settings. Also new is the ability to query the TV and its AI Chatbot to resolve a problem, for example searching for a particular function in the menus or to help select the best settings depending on the nature of the content being broadcast. Also new is the ability to generate your own images using artificial intelligence directly from the TV. LG G5 Evo/M5 Evo, Smart TV ThinQ AI TV on the menu There is also the new ThinQ AI TV 2025 platform with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessible directly on the remote control via a dedicated button. Of course, [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] and HomeKit are on the menu. All of this allows you to access the internet and specific services (LG App Store online store, chat on social networks, etc.), or even directly the web, like on a computer. Not forgetting a brand new Magic Remote without numeric keys but with an integrated microphone for greatly improved ergonomics in voice command. Also new, the possibility via the Home Hub menu to program macros (sequence of several commands via a single click).
