CES 25 > Panasonic W95B Mini LED TV: price and availability updates

After the Panasonic Z95B Oled TV series presented in our columns, here comes the Panasonic W95B Mini LED series, also unveiled at the Panasonic press conference which is taking place right now, a few hours before the opening of the CES 2025 show in Las Vegas.

The Panasonic W95B series includes four Mini [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] [abc]4K[/abc] references, the Panasonic TV-55W95B (55'', 140 cm), Panasonic TV-65W95B (65'', 165 cm), Panasonic TV-75W95B (75'', 191 cm) and Panasonic TV-85W95B (85'', 165 cm). As usual, we will have to wait a few weeks, the time for the brand to exchange with distributors/resellers, to know if all or only part of these models will be distributed in France.

Panasonic W95B, main specifications££££

Like the Oled Z95A, Z93A and Z90A TV series, the Panasonic W95B diffusers benefit from sophisticated video game features: Game Control Board function (see below), Game Mode Extreme, True Game Mode (optimized for video games), Input Lag optimization for 60 Hz games, management of [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] up to 144 Hz and AMD FreeSync Premium certification in Gaming mode.

For the rest, the Panasonic W95B TVs are equipped with a native 144 Hz [abc]LCD[/abc] VA panel associated with a Mini [abc]LED[/abc] backlighting system (the number of zones and diodes is unknown at the time of writing, Panasonic specifies however that they are more than 2.5 times more numerous than on the W95A 2024 vintage). We also find on the Panasonic W95B TVs a [abc]2.1[/abc] audio section delivering a total power of 50 W (2 x 15 W + 20 W).

Panasonic W95B TV, HCX Pro AI Processor MKII££££

The Panasonic W95B screens integrate the latest version of the HCX Pro AI Processor chip in its MKII version. For example, it is thanks to the increased power of the latter that HDR Dolby Vision gaming compatibility is supported up to 144 hertz. For its part, the new 4K Remaster Engine algorithm, still based on Machine Learning technology to adapt in real time (analysis of the image every second) the best settings according to the content displayed, is announced to be even more efficient. For example, it gives pride of place to noise reduction for content from a streaming service and to reducing the Banding phenomenon. Namely, Machine Learning is associated with a huge image database with more than 1 million video clips. Of course, the HCX Pro AI Processor MKII chip also automatically acts on the sound delivered by Panasonic W95B TVs, again by finely adapting the settings to the nature of the program displayed: film, sport, etc.

Panasonic also announces the new Hybrid Tone Mapping technology, the aim of which is to optimize the display of HDR content for each scene by analyzing the signal in real time according to several factors (ambient temperature, etc.). More details later.

TV Panasonic W95B, Game Control Board££££

As already mentioned, video games are another aspect that Panasonic has particularly taken care of on the Panasonic W95B Mini LED series. In addition to a minimum Input Lag, we note the presence of HDMI 2.1 connectors compatible with [abc]VRR[/abc], [abc]ALLM[/abc] and [abc]HFR[/abc] 4K/144. The management of the [abc]eARC[/abc] function is also included.

In the video game chapter, we can also mention the specific True Game Mode setting, equivalent to Filmmaker Mode for game developers. Once it is activated, the displayed image sticks as closely as possible to the intentions of the development studio. Similarly, there are sound settings dedicated to certain game categories: RPG or FPS for example. The first favors a balanced sound environment with excellent clarity of dialogues; the second will highlight the sound effects that can serve as clues to the player (footsteps to anticipate the movements of enemies, etc.).

TV Panasonic W95B, HDR Dolby Vision IQ££££

As a reminder, the Dolby Vision IQ process proposed by Dolby Laboratories aims, in the presence of HDR Dolby Vision content and taking into account the information from the TV's brightness sensor, to always offer optimal image quality regardless of the ambient light conditions, without having to play with the remote control.

But also to best adapt the TV's image settings based on real-time analysis of the content displayed. Thus, on a snowy landscape, the [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] IQ Precision Detail influences the color temperature to get closer to the whiteness of the powder.

TV Panasonic W95B, Smart Fire TV££££

The new Smart Fire TV function offers access to all the best [abc]streaming[/abc] services and Smart Home applications of the moment (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Apple TV+ and YouTube, etc.). The integration of linear and streaming content sources is perfectly seamless. Namely, a Prime Video calibrated mode is offered: it automatically adjusts the image parameters (brightness, color temperature, compensation, etc.) according to the nature of the content displayed. Fully compatible with the Alexa ecosystem, Panasonic W95B televisions allow complete control of Alexa devices via their integrated Dashboard. To be precise, the TV can also be "controlled" vocally thanks to its integrated "Far-Field" microphone, without using the remote control.

Also worth mentioning is the Fire TV Ambient Experience function (see photo below) to transform the television into a giant photo frame or to display certain information provided by the multitude of Alexa widgets available.

In addition to a [abc]DVB-T[/abc]2, [abc]DVB-C[/abc] and [abc]DVB-S[/abc]2 tuner, Panasonic W95B screens have a Penta tuner allowing the reception of TV channels via [abc]IP[/abc]TV. All you need is an RJ-45 socket not far from the TV or to connect it to the home [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] network, and that's it. It is then possible to receive DTT channels (via a dedicated application, Molotov for example) on a TV without a box and without being connected to an antenna socket.

It is also worth mentioning the presence on the remote control of the Panasonic W95B TV of a button called MyApp. This, programmable, allows you to access a channel or application of your choice directly with a simple press, or even a specific voice command. Of course, there is the dual [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] connection for simultaneous connection of two suitable devices. Thus, it is possible to enjoy the sound of the TV on two separate wireless headphones. Finally, profile management is part of it.

Availability expected in June. Indicative prices still unknown.
