Finally... Unlike previous years, which saw the brand split the same series under two separate names to represent televisions that were significantly different in terms of screen technologies, or to bring together models with different specifications within the same series, 2025 marks the return to perfect readability of the flagship series of the Panasonic Oled TV range, the Z95B. Three references are on the menu, the
Panasonic TV-55Z95B (55", 140 cm), Panasonic TV-65Z95B (65", 165 cm) and
Panasonic TV-77Z95B (77", 196 cm).
Panasonic Z95B TV, Tandem Oled RGB panels££££
The Panasonic Z95B incorporates the latest generation of Oled panels from LG Display, equipped with Tandem Oled RGB panels (already present in LG G5 Evo televisions).
Behind this name hides a new Oled panel structure made up of four layers of organic emitting materials including two layers of blue materials (one of them would be of the Pholed type therefore phosphorescent, the other fluorescent; information that remains yet to be confirmed). The combination of these two blue emitters, mixed with other organic emitting materials, refines the wavelength of light and improves color purity to offer increased performance in terms of brightness but also color volume. LG Display has continued to improve this last point, an intrinsic weakness of White Oled technology. We can't wait to judge the brand's claims for themselves.
Another advantage highlighted by Tandem Oled RGB technology is a reduced risk of marking (pixel burn-in). Again, this is a point that LG Display has been working hard on since the beginning of Oled technology. And while significant progress has been made in recent years, the problem persists during specific uses (long video game sessions or broadcasting a news channel with a banner at the bottom of the screen, for example). The Tandem Oled process would be the most significant advance on the subject since the launch of Oled. Panasonic's exclusive ThermalFlow cooling system (similar to the exclusive heat sink in the form of a metal plate embedded on previous generations of Oled panels) ensures the cooling of the Tandem Oled RGB panel. The latter guarantees high brightness, high contrast and a wide volume of colors.
In the end, the peak light of the Panasonic Z95B TVs is announced +40% higher compared to its predecessors the Panasonic Z95A TVs (click on the Panasonic TV-65Z95A reference to discover its full test by the AVcesar editorial staff), which is exactly the figure put forward by LG for its LG G5 Evo/LG M5 Evo TVs. Thus, the peak measurement should be around 4,000 nits for a 10% APL and around 300 nits for a 100% APL.
As usual, if the panels are still from the manufacturer LG Display (a company belonging to LG Group, like LG Electronics), they have been optimized by the Panasonic teams in partnership with the renowned and famous Hollywood colorist Stefen Sonnefeld, founder and CEO of the company Company 3 who has collaborated with the greatest film directors and the biggest box office successes such as Top Gun: Maverick, A Star is Born, Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Jurassic World, 300, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Beauty and the Beast…
Panasonic Z95B Oled TV, main specifications££££
The Panasonic Z95B TVs of course offer all the equipment of last year's Z95A models in addition to recent technical improvements from in-house engineers to display an ever more beautiful image, including a focus on video games: Game Control Board function, Input Lag optimization for 60 Hz games at 1.5 ms (and 10.5 ms in 120 Hz), management of [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] up to 144 Hz (Game Mode Extreme), AMD FreeSync Premium or G-Sync certification in Gaming mode.
The Panasonic Z95B TVs, like the Z95As, feature high-end audio equipment that has been further improved. The audio system of the Panasonic Z95B TVs, called 360 Soundscape Pro, was developed and configured by engineers from the famous [abc]Hi-Fi[/abc] Technics company, owned by Panasonic. It includes a sound bar equipped with new speakers (16 in total), side speakers and speakers in Up-Firing configuration. The latter are located differently from those of the previous TV ranges (Z95A, MZ2000, etc.), further apart from each other to widen the sound stage (staging doubled according to the brand). Finally, a new subwoofer with greater power, 30 W (compared to 20 W previously) is present. This new sound configuration is called Premium Theater. Of course, [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc] compatibility is included.
This new speaker layout gives the Panasonic Z95B TVs a new flat rear panel aesthetic, less deep and more fluid for a general feeling of lightness compared to the massive appearance of previous generations.
Panasonic Z95B TV, HCX Pro AI Processor MKII££££
The Panasonic Z95B TVs feature the HCX Pro AI Processor chip, in its MKII version already present on the Z95A. Powerful, the latter allows for example the support of HDR Dolby Vision gaming compatibility up to 144 hertz. For its part, the new 4K Remaster Engine algorithm, still based on Machine Learning technology to adapt in real time (analysis of the image every second) the best parameters according to the content displayed, is announced to be even more efficient. For example, it gives pride of place to noise reduction for content from a streaming service and to reducing the banding phenomenon inherent in Oled technology. Namely, Machine Learning is associated with a huge image database with more than 1 million video clips. Of course, the HCX Pro AI Processor MKII chip also automatically acts on the sound delivered by Panasonic Z95B televisions, again by finely adapting the settings to the nature of the program displayed: film, sport, etc.
Panasonic Z95B TV, Game Control Board££££
As already mentioned, video games are another aspect that Panasonic has particularly taken care of on Oled Z95B TVs. In addition to a minimum Input Lag of 1.5 ms with 60 Hz games (10.5 ms otherwise), we note the presence of HDMI 2.1 connectors compatible with [abc]VRR[/abc], [abc]ALLM[/abc] and [abc]HFR[/abc] 4K/144. Note that the management of the [abc]eARC[/abc] function is also in place.
In the video game chapter, we can mention the new specific True Game Mode setting, equivalent to Filmmaker Mode for game developers. Once it is activated, the displayed image sticks as closely as possible to the intentions of the development studio. Likewise, there are sound settings dedicated to certain game categories: RPG or FPS for example. The first favors a balanced sound environment with excellent clarity of dialogue; the second will highlight the sound effects that can serve as clues to the player (footsteps to anticipate enemy movements, etc.). Namely, this True Game mode can be calibrated, notably with Calman, whose eponymous function is making a comeback on Panasonic Z95B TVs. [abc]ISF[/abc] calibration is also in place.
As always, the option to deactivate Tone Mapping (conversion of the colors of an image with a greater dynamic range than that of the broadcaster in order to avoid Clipping or clipping) and specify the TV's Clipping level via the menu is in place. This way, content producers will be able to fully utilize the full performance of the TV in this area, so that Clipping really occurs at the maximum of the TV's capabilities, and not before. The result is a more colorful and more natural image. This is also particularly interesting with a connected gaming PC or game console, it is better to deactivate the Tone Mapping of the TV and let the game display its HDR values as best as possible for an image at the maximum potential of the broadcaster.
TV Panasonic Z95B, HDR Dolby Vision IQ Precision Detail and Filmmaker Mode££££
As a reminder, the Dolby Vision IQ Precision Detail process proposed by Dolby Laboratories aims, in the presence of HDR Dolby Vision content and taking into account the information from the TV's brightness sensor, to always offer optimal image quality regardless of the ambient light conditions, without having to play with the remote control.
But also to best adapt the TV's image settings based on real-time analysis of the content displayed. Thus, on a snowy landscape, the [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] IQ Precision Detail influences the color temperature to get closer to the whiteness of the powder.
Namely, the Filmmaker Mode option of Panasonic Z95B TVs is associated with the Intelligent Sensing process. The latter uses the brightness sensor of the televisions to adjust the rendering of the [abc]HDR[/abc] according to the light environment. More generally, and with the aim of an ever-improving displayed image quality, the Z95A TVs integrate an [abc]RGB[/abc] sensor capable of adapting the color temperature displayed on the screen according to that of the environment, no longer only influencing the brightness alone.
Panasonic Z95B TV, Smart Fire TV, Amazon Alexa integrated££££
The new Smart Fire TV function offers access to all the best [abc]streaming[/abc] services and Smart Home applications of the moment (Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Apple TV+ and YouTube…). The integration of linear and streaming content sources is perfectly transparent. Namely, a calibrated Prime Video mode is offered: it automatically adjusts the image settings (brightness, color temperature, compensation, etc.) according to the nature of the content displayed.
Fully compatible with the Alexa ecosystem, Panasonic Z95B TVs allow complete control of Alexa devices via their integrated Dashboard. Precision, the TV can also be “controlled” vocally thanks to its integrated “Far-Field” microphone, without using the remote control.
Namely, Apple HomeKit and [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] compatibilities are also part of it. It is therefore possible to control the TV by voice (Siri) or from an Apple device (iPad, iPhone, Mac computer). Also worth mentioning is the Fire TV Ambient Experience function (see photo below) to transform the TV into a giant photo frame or to display certain information provided by the multitude of Alexa widgets available.
In addition to a [abc]DVB-T[/abc]2, [abc]DVB-C[/abc] and [abc]DVB-S[/abc]2 tuner, Panasonic Z95B televisions have a Penta tuner allowing the reception of TV channels via IPTV. All you need is an RJ-45 socket near the TV or to connect it to the home Wi-Fi network, and that's it. It is therefore possible to receive DTT channels (via a dedicated application, Molotov for example) on a TV without a box and without being connected to an antenna socket.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the presence on the remote control of Panasonic Z95B TVs of a button called MyApp. This, programmable, allows you to access a channel or application of your choice directly with a simple press, or even a specific voice command. Of course, there is the dual [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] connection for simultaneous connection of two suitable devices. Thus, it is for example possible to enjoy the sound of the TV on two separate wireless headphones. Lastly, the Panasonic 55Z95B and Panasonic 65Z95B benefit from a swivel stand, not the Panasonic 77Z95B.
More details later.
