A newcomer to the Korean manufacturer's TV range, the LG QNED9M is the LCD counterpart of the LG [abc]Oled[/abc] M series. As such, it offers True Wireless 4K technology allowing wireless transfer of audio and video signals (up to 144 Hz) between the Zero Connect box, which groups together the connectors plus part of the electronics, and the screen (see in the foreground on the coffee table next to the sofa in the photo above). Now we need to know the diagonals offered by the QNED9M series and, above all, which one(s) will see the light of day in France. As a reminder, of the four sizes of LG M4 Oled TV screens presented at the CES show in Las Vegas 2024 (65'', 77'', 83'' and 97''), only the 77" model has seen the light of day in our country. The answer in a few weeks after the traditional post-CES exchanges between the brand and resellers.
LG QNED9M, main specifications££££
As a reminder, the LG QNED TV series top the brand's [abc]LCD[/abc] range. Namely, the QNED9M screens, like the QNED85 vintage 2024 (pictured in this news while waiting for the correct visuals provided by the brand) use the [abc]Edge[/abc] [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] backlighting system (called Advanced Local Dimming at LG). As with the QNED82/85 references, the technology called Dynamic QNED Color (93% DCI-P3) is present.
Finally, LG specifies that its QNED9M diffusers offer a design called Ultra Slim design close to that of the LG C5 Oled TV series with a thickness of only 16.4 mm at the most rounded part of the TV.
LG QNED9M, Alpha 9 AI Gen 8 processor ££££
For the rest, we notice the new Alpha 9 AI Gen 8 processor, an evolution of the Alpha 9 that appeared last year. There are AI Super Upscaling features (appropriate processing depending on the nature of the image), AI Picture Pro (Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro and Object Enhancing processes) and AI Sound Pro for 9.1.2 audio virtualization. Not forgetting of course AI ThinQ and the webOS25 interface (the webOS Re:New program that appeared last year is still in place).
LG QNED9M, what about HDR and sound?££££
As for the QNED82/85 references, the LG QNED9M 2025 televisions are not HDR Dolby Vision, only HDR10. Likewise, no Dolby Atmos compatibility. In terms of audio, the 2.0 sound section delivering a power of 20 W of the LG QNED80 TVs from the 2023 vintage should be renewed. To be checked, however.
LG QNED9M, native 10-bit 120 Hz IPS LCD panel££££
In addition to a backlighting system [abc]Edge[/abc] [abc]LED[/abc] [abc]Local Dimming[/abc] already mentioned, the LG QNED9M TVs are built from an [abc]LCD[/abc] IPS [abc]Ultra panel HD[/abc] 10-bit native 120 Hz and a simple tuner [abc]DVB-T[/abc]2, [abc]DVB-S[/abc]2 and [abc]DVB-C[/abc]. Plus the [abc]Canal Ready[/abc] and [abc]Fransat[/abc] certifications.
LG QNED9M, Smart TV ThinQ AI and new remote control on the menu ££££
We also find the new ThinQ AI 2025 platform equipped with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa accessible directly on the remote control via a dedicated button. Of course, [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc] and HomeKit are on the menu. All this allows you to access the internet and specific services (LG App Store online store, chat on social networks, etc.), or even directly to the web, like on a computer.
Also present, the [abc]HBBTV[/abc] compatibility and the [abc]UPnP[/abc] ([abc]DLNA[/abc]) multimedia gateway function associated with the [abc]Miracast[/abc], [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] ac and [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.1 APT-X compatibilities. The latter authorizes the pairing of a headset, a suitable speaker or the activation of the LG Sound Sync function to connect for example a wirelessly compatible sound bar with the TV. Not to mention a brand new Magic Remote control without numeric keys but with an integrated microphone for greatly improved ergonomics in voice command. Also new, the possibility via the Home Hub menu to program macros (sequence of several commands via a single click).
Also worth mentioning is the DVR function for recording your favorite programs via one of the three [abc]USB[/abc] Host ports on a suitable key or external hard drive, and the [abc]Time Shifting[/abc] function.
LG QNED9M, Microsoft Copilot inside and LG AI TV££££
Available only in South Korea and the United States at launch, the Copilot artificial intelligence LLM software by Microsoft. No date has been provided at the time of writing for availability in other countries. In 2025, the Korean manufacturer announced the LG AI TV functionality accessible on the remote control via a dedicated button with a specific logo repeating the LG AI Home logo presented by the brand at the IFA show in Berlin in September. In addition to numerous interactions with image processing, LG AI TV naturally intervenes in the use of the TV. Thus, the Voice ID function recognizes the user and automatically switches to their profile with its recommendations and audio-video settings. Also new is the ability to query the TV and its AI Chatbot to resolve a problem, for example searching for a particular function in the menus or to help select the best settings according to the nature of the content being broadcast. Also new is the ability to generate your own images using artificial intelligence directly from the TV according to a credit system (one credit for one image), with the user having a stock of 100 free credits.
LG QNED9M, zoom on the connectivity ££££
We note the presence of four [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]CEC[/abc] 2.1 inputs (one of which has the [abc]eARC[/abc] function), all compatible with [abc]HDCP[/abc] 2.3. The management of the [abc]VRR[/abc] and [abc]ALLM[/abc] functions is also included. The rest of the connectivity, not specified by the manufacturer LG, should also include an [abc]optical[/abc] output plus two [abc]USB[/abc] Host ports compatible with [abc]Fat32[/abc] and [abc]NTFS[/abc] and an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port. Likewise, [abc]MP3[/abc], [abc]AAC[/abc], [abc]Dolby Digital[/abc], [abc]WMA[/abc], [abc]VP9[/abc], [abc]HEVC[/abc], [abc]Xvid[/abc], [abc]VC-1[/abc], Mpeg, Mpeg 2, Mpeg 4 and [abc]Jpeg[/abc] compatibilities should be ensured. To be checked later.
