In the late 90s, early 2000s, the Finnish brand Nokia was the leader in mobile phones with a 40% market share. The advent of the smartphone - particularly with the arrival of the iPhone in 2007 - would however get the better of this pioneer.

To keep alive the glory days of Nokia, Aalto University in Helsinki, with the help of the Academy of Finland, is opening a website (today January 15, 2025) dedicated to the design of Nokia devices, most of which are memorable, such as the 3310 "brick" or the Nokia 8810 "banana" used by Keanu Reeves in Matrix.
The site, called Nokia Design Archive, lists some 20,000 devices launched between mid-1990 and 2017, it also includes never-released concepts in the form of illustrations as well as interviews with designers. It is worth remembering that the best-selling mobile of all time is a Nokia, and that contemporary artists continue to celebrate the brand.
