Smart glasses, strong growth in sight

Even without a screen or augmented reality, smart glasses are enjoying a success that is unlikely to dry up in the years to come, on the contrary.

According to ABI Research, thanks in particular to the Ray-Ban model from Meta, screenless smart glasses have recently seen a surge in interest and this is expected to continue. Thus, from 679,000 units distributed in 2024, this would reach 15 million by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 68%.

“It became clear that the collaboration between Meta and Ray-Ban would create a big wave of interest in extended reality, when this model arrived in sunglasses stores. Our discussions with industry leaders, as well as our experience in this field, clearly indicated that this type of device was a crucial element of the market, says Matilda Beinat, research analyst at ABI Research. We expect these glasses to be a consumer device first, but their value can extend to the enterprise, particularly in training and workforce guidance. Having an AI agent on your person, able to understand the environment and assist in daily work in a spatial way, will lead to a significant change in productivity.”
