Samsung Galaxy S25, thinner, stronger

Samsung announced on January 22nd its new trio of smartphones Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Presentation of the first named, the “entry-level” model, before returning to the S25+ (the S25 Ultra has already been presented, click on its reference underlined above to learn more).

As usual, it was during the last Unpacked conference that Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy S range for the 2025 vintage.

Samsung Galaxy S25, AI still highlighted££££

The Galaxy S25 range continues to highlight the artificial intelligence introduced in force last year. Samsung is thus evolving its Galaxy AI platform with new features and improving some already existing ones thanks to the increased power of learning algorithms (Machine Learning).

Multimodal AI agents are thus introduced to interpret text, voice, images and videos, and make interactions more natural. The Circle to Search with Google feature, for example, recognizes phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs displayed on the screen to make a call, send a message, or visit a website with a simple gesture.

In terms of design, Samsung has adopted a metal frame that, for the first time, incorporates recycled Armor aluminum.

Samsung Galaxy S25, screen and processor££££

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is a 6.2'' (15.75 cm) Dynamic Amoled 2X (120 Hz) specimen with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels, equipped with the new Corning Gorilla Armor 2 coating, which is more resistant than glass. In terms of performance, Samsung has integrated the Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor clocked at 4.4 GHz (2 x 4.47 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L + 6 x 3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M) engraved in 3 nm (the same as for the high-end S25 Ultra), supported by an Adreno 830 graphics chip, 12 GB of RAM and a choice of 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of Flash memory.

Samsung Galaxy S25, photo capabilities££££

As for photography, Galaxy AI is always at work for editing. You can surround a subject of your choice, isolate it, move it, change its size or completely remove it from the frame. This feature is less dependent on the Cloud this year, thanks to the increased power of the processors.

For the hardware part, the Samsung Galaxy S25 has a triple sensor: 50 Mpxls wide-angle (24 mm, f/1.8, 1 µm photosite, Dual Pixel, PDAF, stabilized) + 10 Mpxls telephoto lens (67 mm, f/2.4, 1 µm photosite, x3 optical zoom, PDAF, stabilized) + 12 Mpxls ultra-wide-angle (13 mm, f/2.2, 1.4 µm photosite, Super Steady Video). There is also an LED flash. New this year, depth of field control thanks to the Virtual Aperture function. For its part, the selfie camera is 12 Mpxls (26 mm, f/2.2, 1.12 µm photosite, Dual Pixel PDAF).

Samsung Galaxy S25, video capabilities££££

In terms of video, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra can naturally record sequences in [abc]4 320p[/abc] (Ultra HD 8K) resolution up to 30 fps, [abc]2 160p[/abc] up to 60 fps, [abc]1 080p[/abc] up to 120 fps, all in HDR10+. For the selfie camera: [abc]2160p[/abc] up to 60fps or [abc]1080p[/abc] up to 30fps.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 adopts the [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.4 LE, [abc]NFC[/abc] and [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 7 standards. For its part, the battery (non-removable) has a capacity of 4,000 mAh. On this subject, know that the batteries are made in part from cobalt from old Galaxy devices or discarded batteries, and that the 40% larger vapor chamber and a thermal interface material improve thermal efficiency, i.e. less overheating.

The floor to TM Roh, President and CEO of Samsung Mobile££££

“The greatest innovations are a reflection of their users, so we evolved Galaxy AI so that everyone can interact seamlessly and naturally with their devices, while being assured of the confidentiality of their data,” said TM Roh, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience Division. The Galaxy S25 series paves the way for an operating system based on artificial intelligence that will radically change our relationship with technology, but also our habits of life.”
