According to a leak revealed by the Chinese site MyDrivers, the iPhone-17 Pro Max should see a reduction in the size of its Dynamic Island area, the oval perforation at the top of the screen that contains the selfie camera.
Face ID soon on the back of iPhones?££££
This new rumor corroborates information reported a few months ago by analyst Jeff Pu, explaining that the Face ID function would no longer be part of the black oval, thus reducing its surface area. The Face ID sensor would be hidden behind the screen thanks to a new material developed by Apple, Metalens, a flat and lightweight surface that uses nanostructures to concentrate light. Metalens lenses should replace the usual curved plastic layers covering the optical lenses.
The same source adds that the edges of the device will be even thinner than before.
