Samsung unveils its portable and foldable console

Samsung Display recently unveiled its foldable portable console concept. But will the Korean giant really get into video gaming?

At the end of last year, Samsung Display published a patent for a portable console with a foldable screen, and this document materialized at the last Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in the form of a functional prototype, exhibited on the Korean manufacturer's stand.

Is Samsung launching into the video game sector? Not really. It should be remembered that Samsung Display, a division of the Korean group dedicated to the manufacture of screens, supplies its products to other manufacturers who use them in the products of their choice. This prototype is there to give ideas to video game specialists to, perhaps, inspire new directions in the gaming market.

This conceptual product is no less impressive, reminiscent in its shape of the Nintendo Switch, but which could be folded in two along its central vertical axis. Also note a clever detail, the presence of a "hole" in the middle of the control buttons, allowing the protruding joysticks to fit there when the device is folded on itself (see photo above).
