Like the JBL Flip 7 already presented in our columns (see our news JBL Flip 7, Auracast Bluetooth speaker certified IP68 perfect for summer), the JBL Charge 6 speaker is primarily made of recycled materials (plastic and fabric for the speaker grille), not forgetting FSC-certified wrapping paper printed with soy ink. A very appreciable sustainable orientation.
JBL Charge 6, main developments££££
Another development is the presence of a removable handle that can be transformed into a strap. Its character is further reinforced with the IP68 certification (compared to IP67 on the Charge 5) and the presence of the [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 5.4 [abc]Auracast[/abc] protocol which ensures superior listening quality, improved autonomy and unprecedented use for connecting several suitable speakers, or broadcasting the same sound source on several speakers. It is even possible to enjoy lossless audio files by connecting a computer or a portable audio player via the [abc]USB[/abc]-C port. Auracast Bluetooth also allows for a very simple multi-room configuration.
JBL Charge 6, separate woofer and tweeter££££
In terms of the acoustic package, the JBL Charge 6 features a 52 x 90 mm oval [abc]woofer[/abc] and a 20 mm [abc]tweeter[/abc] for increased high-frequency performance. The two passive radiators present at both ends of the Charge 5 are still present on the Charge 6. The total power output is 45 watts.
JBL Charge 6, Power Bank function££££
Good news, the autonomy of the JBL Charge 6 has improved and now displays 28 hours (compared to 20 hours on the Charge 5). The high capacity of the Li-Ion battery can be shared with one or more portable devices through the Power Bank function (emergency battery) associated with the [abc]USB[/abc] Type-C Host port. Finally, fast charging is available on the Charge 6, 10 minutes of charging allows 150 additional minutes of listening.
Availability announced on April 1st in black, blue, white, red, gray, camouflage, pink or purple. Recommended price: 199.99 euros.
UPDATE 03/17/25: Contrary to what was initially announced, the JBL Charge 6 does not contain a removable battery, this news has therefore been corrected accordingly
