Onkyo TX-8470, Hi-Fi/DAB amplifier/tuner and network player with HDMI connectors

We missed the [abc]Hi-Fi[/abc] Onkyo TX-8470 amplifier-tuner when it was released, a model equipped with a network player and a rich connectivity that gives pride of place to HDMI connectors. So today we present it to you in due form.

The Onkyo TX-8470's menu therefore includes [abc]streaming[/abc] wireless [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 5 Dual Band (2.4/5 GHz), [abc]AirPlay 2[/abc], [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 4.2 APT-X, [abc]Chromecast (integrated)[/abc], Spotify Connect, Deezer, Tidal and Amazon Music HD. The [abc]UPnP[/abc] ([abc]DLNA[/abc]) and Roon audio gateway functions, combined with the Ethernet port or Wi-Fi, are of course included. The same goes for access to several thousand [abc]Webradios[/abc] (Tunein) and multiroom functionality (Sonos compatibility in addition to AirPlay and Chromecast).

For the rest, we find the exclusive Class G Dynamic Audio Amplification (high current, low impedance architecture to precisely manage large speakers), an EI transformer, a slightly higher total power of 2 x 160 W under 6 ohms, gold-plated RCA connectors, a rich connectivity and the presence of a digital radio tuner [abc]Dab+[/abc] and AM/FM RDS with forty presets. Not to mention two high-capacity capacitors and a rigid chassis that allows you to enjoy all kinds of musical sources with the best sound quality.

The Asahi Kasei 384 KHz/32-bit digital-to-analog audio converter offers [abc]Hi-Res Audio[/abc] certification. It is combined with VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) technology to eliminate ultra-high frequency interference. Compatibility [abc]MP3[/abc], [abc]WMA[/abc], [abc]Wav[/abc] [abc]AIFF[/abc], [abc]Flac[/abc] (up to 192 kHz/24 bits for the latter three), [abc]AAC[/abc], [abc]LPCM[/abc] and [abc]DSD[/abc] 2.8 MHz, 5.6 MHz and 11.2 MHz is ensured.
