The iPhone is still increasingly popular among teenagers

Year after year, young Americans continue to swear by Apple smartphones, even if the brand's services (Apple Music, Apple TV) attract them much less.

The brokerage house Piper Sandler conducts a biannual survey of American teenagers to learn more about their consumption habits. The latest one (spring 2025) has a sample of more than 6,400 young people with an average age of 16.2 years, spread across 43 states.

The conclusions of this edition are again in line with the results of surveys conducted in previous years (which we have reported almost regularly), namely a continued popularity for the Apple smartphone. Thus, 88% of the teenagers surveyed own an iPhone, a slightly higher proportion than last fall (and already 66% in 2015). Also, 88% of those surveyed say their next smartphone will be an iPhone, especially if they already own one.

Apple Music and Apple TV, far behind Soptify, Netflix and YouTube££££

Loyal to Apple for its smartphone, teens do not, however, show the same affection for the American manufacturer's services. Thus, with 30% adoption, Apple Music is only second in their choice of [abc]streaming[/abc] music, behind Spotify (used by 45% of young people). The presence of a free option with ads is not for nothing in the popularity of Spotify. As for Apple TV+, less than 1% of young people are fans, a figure far behind the two leaders, Netflix and YouTube, with 31% and 25% usage share respectively.
