According to the latest indiscretions gathered by analyst Jeff Pu of the investment firm GF Securities, Apple's first foldable screen devices are expected to be launched together in late 2026, or rather during 2027.
iPhone/iPad or MacBook with foldable screen, production expected in the first quarter of 2026…££££
More precisely, the two devices (7.8" foldable screen for the iPhone, 18.8" for the iPad) have seen rapid development, and they will enter large-scale production in the last quarter of 2026, hence their estimated release date. These two devices have entered the New Product Introduction phase at the Foxconn factory, a loyal partner of Apple for years. However, doubt remains regarding the large-screen device, which could rather be part of the MacBook family than the iPad family. It's the operating system Apple chooses—iPadOS or macOS—that will define its affiliation. However, the next major iOS 19 and macOS 16 updates in the fall of 2025 could signal a unification that would pave the way for devices with foldable screens and touchscreen Macs. A hybrid Mac/iPad product is therefore not out of the question.
