No rumors, it's a given. The script for the next Miami Vice will be written by Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler, Kong: Skull Island), while Dylan Clark (The Batman) will produce.
A new Miami Vice, a monster project££££
Michael Mann produced the original 1980s television series, created by Anthony Yerkovich. It followed two detectives, Crockett and Tubbs, operating undercover in a glamorous and dangerous Miami. The series became iconic thanks to its pastel costumes, contemporary music and innovative filmmaking style, breaking with the codes of traditional police series.
In 2006, Mann directed a first film adaptation, transforming the series universe into a dark and poetic police thriller carried by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. Although the film (click on Miami Vice to see our review) received mixed critical reception at the time and grossed only $163.7 million at the global box office, it has since acquired a well-deserved cult status.
Kosinski + Miami Vice: Sounds great!££££
This summer, Joseph Kosinski will also release his Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt, F1. At the same time, he is developing a project around a UFO conspiracy with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a film highly coveted by the studios and expected to see the light of day before Miami Vice.
At this time, it is unknown whether this will be a direct sequel to the 2006 film or an entirely new adaptation of the TV series. Likewise, there has been no information yet on the possible return of Colin Farrell or Jamie Foxx. Anyway, Kosinski + Miami Vice: sounds great!
